Default The end of the world?

As a kid, I used to think that one day scientists would do some scientific experiment and it would set off some sort of chemical chain reaction which they could not stop and could destroy the earth. Who knows what could have happened when they first developed nuclear weapons, etc
Then I read this today
Quote:
Physicists hope the device, which has taken 14 years and $8.7 billion to build, will provide clues to the universe's origins by mimicking its condition one trillionth of a second after the Big Bang.
Although CERN scientists have already ruled out the possibility in a safety review, Mr Wagner and Mr Sancho say there is at least a small chance of annihilation of the planet and perhaps the universe

Those people complaining sound like such qualified people. People just bitch about anything and everything, let people get on with it, if the world ends the world ends, we won't know much about it.

Who's gonna do a safety check anyway? Who exactly do they think is going to be more qualified than the scientists working on it?

There's a 'small' chance a giant rock twice the size of our planet could crash into us next week, we aint worrying about that

Granted, but he has a point. How exactly would you safety it? Saying there's a small chance that everything will be destoryed is probably true but you'd have to define small. There's a small chance a nuclear power plant will meltdown but that hasn't.......ok bad example.

I am armed, with food, supplies, and a plan to escape the city when the zombies attack. Preparation is key. Remember that no place is safe, only safer, you must destroy the brains, if you have to go upstairs destroy the stairs, and also remind yourself you can't trust the living.

Sorry for off topic, I am just a zombie nut!

Anyway, whatever happens, the sun is going to die at one time.
To be quick, the sun is a star and all stars die at one point.

If someones really wants the full physics explanation, I'll take the time to write it
