Default Computer starts up and then restarts...

This was happening a few months ago and then stopped for awhile... now it is starting to happen again.

My computer will be completely off, and I will press the start button to startup the computer. Windows loads, does it thing, gets to the part where it is saying something like Windows is loading, then the screen goes to just the image of my desktop background (no taskbar or nething) and you hear the noise that its going to restart and it restarts.

Last time this was happening I took the door of the case off and used cool air from a hair blow drier on it for a few seconds. I try restarting it with the door off and it gets to my desktop.

What could this be happening because?

I've had this computer for about 4 years now. A lot of changes have been made to it. About a year or two ago I had a professional change the case and it came with a higher PSU.

About the only things that have stayed the same since I bought it are the motherboard (processor) and the harddrive that windows is on.

Have you tried running virus scans? Sounds like it might be software related. Check all wires inside your pc to make sure nothing is shorting it out. Are you doing anything specific that makes it restart? Let say if you dont touch your pc and walk away out of your room, will it still do it? That's kind a weird question but will help when diagnosing the problem.

I will run a virus scan in a few minutes to check if it is that, but I am pretty sure that isn't it. Everything (software wise) seems to be working fine.

I am pretty sure all the wires are connected properly. If it is completely off and I press start up and walk away until it reaches the desktop, I can come back only find it starting up getting past the various Windows startup screens and restarting right before it would go to my desktop.

Last day or two (like what was happening a few months ago) is that I'll have to manually turn off the computer, blow it with a cool hairdrier for a couple of secs and then restart it and it works.

Could this be something with the power supply? I replaced the case about a year ago and it now has a bigger power supply. I was told to upgrade the PSU because I had a lot inside thehttp://www.computerforum.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=942941 case.

Could this be temperature related? While its not like real hot in my loft (where the computer is) its not exactly overly cool.

I have a built in thermometer reading on my case and its consistently at 50 degrees Celsius or higher. As I type its at 54 or 55 degrees celsius. That seems high.
