What do you guys think of the extension date on windows xp. They are saying they will keep selling and putting windows xp on low end budget pc's.

Overall, don't care because I use Linux full time...
but for the Windows users, I think they should extend it as Vista sucks a**!

Hey, I got my copy of XP and have no intention of downgrading to Vista. Every extension of life for XP is an admission that they are getting a LOT of flak about Vista.

Vista may have some obvious short comings like a few changes not expected like no more add/remove Windows components option seen but it hasn't been a total waste once you get accustomed to certain improvements also seen. One of those is an improvement in crash control when a software or device driver attempts to load into a reserved memory address.

More memory? XP vs 98SE saw a larger increment there from 16mb to 128mb recommended. Aero styles themes? That was "eye candy" as well as the side bar. Did you know the original version of Vista was scraped half way through. The restart of the revised version took another 3yrs. to see retail form.

I am very happy with Vista!! Barely any problems at all. I had a few problems at the beginning but a bios update fixed most of the issues. I have over 70programs and 10 games installed and no problems with any of them!! Vista really isnt that much slower than xp and if your pc cant handle vista or you cant make vista run good then you prob dont belong on a pc!!

With SP1 now out many Vista users are noticing improvements right away. That's due to the over 400 fixes tucked inside of it. XP's SP1 saw over 1,000 there!

But look at how many refused to upgrade to XP from an older version like 98SE or 2000. The main excuse is simply not wanting to spend on replacing softwares that won't run on a newer version of Windows. Another of course was seeing $200 retail for 98-XP and what $400 for Ultimate!
