Default Vista discs and product keys...

I've got a vista disc and it's a little shabby so as when i install it's got corrupted files (there is slight physical disc damage)...
i understand the product keys are what determines the actual OS installed from the disc, so would it be possible (and legal) to simply use my current product key and simply a different install disc?

ps... good news on the issue though, i've decided i like Ubuntu quite a bit, but i don't want to waste the money i paid for vista

Yes it's perfectly legal to download or torrent the disk if you have a legit *KEY*, the mighty microsoft product key... so a disk in pieces is no reason to feel bad!

I wouldn't see an issue by downloading Vista via a torrent and using a legit CD Key.
