Default USB not detecting drivers in Vista 64

Hello.

On my brand new machine (below) I have Vista Home Premium 64bit installed.
Heres the story.
Everything was going find, I could put in my USB memory sticks etc and Vista would detect and install correctly, my mate came round with his mobile phone one day which had a memory stick in it, I plugged it in and it wouldn detect so I downloaded the phones software program and I got it too work, but from then on nothing you plug in USB detects and installs, Vista always says cannot locate device driver etc, even on simple memory sticks. This problem is incredable annoying and painful.

I posted the below on Windows Community Discussion Group thing and got the reply but this didnt work.... Any one able to help me?

Hello.

I tried this and the same thing still happens. I tried the vista dvd for a
repair installation option but it doesnt seem to have one.

The usb works as in you insert the stick and it instantly comes up with
"unable to install hareware" or something like that (Im sure you know what
window Im refering to)

Any more ideas?

Thanks
