i am thinking about ordering that ram I was wondering if There is a speed difference between ordering 4x 1gb sticks or 2x 2gb sticks all else equal.

Also which ram is better out of the two listed above?

Thanks.

2 sticks are potentially faster because you should be able to run them at a command rate of 1 instead of 2. The command rate is a timing that is applied to all memory operations, like CAS, so they make the most difference of any of the timings. That said, CMD 1 vs CMD 2 is not going to be a real big difference at those speeds.

with 2 x 2 it gives you headroom to upgrade later on to 6 or 8.

Windows Vista only really sees up to 3 sticks of 1GB (3GB total) RAM at least right now.

The other day, I went on Apple's site and customized a computer out of fun (Power Mac i think???) and the total cost was about $24,000 because it had 9 GB of RAM and a 2 TB hard drive, and the elite of the elite of the elite of all other components, + 3 widescreen monitors. I could buy an IBM minimainframe for that much!

I have a Question about air bag labels and seats posted in the "other categories" forums, please see and answer if you can.

Vista 32bit can see up to 4gbs of ram but will really only use around 3.25 dependig on your hardware because of addresses. But Vista 64 bit depending on the edition can read anywhere from 8gbs to 128+gbs. of memory.
