Hey. I'm building my first computer right now, and so far I've been reading an article and it's been a breeze. I picked out all of my components and would like to order them tonight. However, I don't know what PSU wattage I need, and I also don't know how to tell if I have enough plugs to plug into all of my fans and such.
Here are all of my components: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116056 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835200015 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115040 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812270093 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151028 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136075 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136126 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130072 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220299 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...rk=False&Page= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128084 Any Help is GREATLY appreciated, and I will definitely post back and do my fair share to join in the discussions and help out ;-) |

The supply picked out is quite adequate while ceewi1 is the one that knows which Seasonic model would work the best. That's one of the better makes of supplies to note.
The two problems seen with the current selection are the cpu cooler and 4gb of memory for XP Home/SP2? Bad story there with the 3gb barrier on 32bit OSs. Besides the 3.2gb available for ram and the rest mapped out to hardwares one thing most don't realize when rushing at 4gb of memory is that games and apps were never written to run on systems with more then 2-3gb of memory installed.

Yes. Someone else pointed this out to me, and I was forced to change my selection to Vista Ultimate 64-bit. The excess memory isn't so much for all the gaming (though it helps) but I do a lot of graphic imaging as well, mostly on my iMac, but would like to have the option on the new computer as well. What is wrong with the CPU cooler?
