Angry Windows Vista Problem

Got a new laptop with Vista installed. My problem started today and I don't know how to correct it. the problem is that when I click on My Computer and then click on C: drive , the folders come up for a second and then an errom message pops up saying that Internet Explorrer has stopped working and is trying to find a solution. Then I get sent back to windows main screen.

Does anyone know how to stop this????

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to CF!

Have you tried rebooting your computer?
If not, first, press the following combinations :

Ctrl+Shift+Esc

and then click on "Processes" and then locate and terminate the process, "explorer.exe".

Now, go to "Applications" and then click on "New Task..." and then type explorer and press enter.
Now try navigating to your C:/ drive.

Did you change anything before this problem started, because if you did, this may be the cause?

Also, You could try going to a restore point that you know didn't have the problem.

Default Did That

I tried both rebooting and restore and neither worked. I may try going back to an earlier restore point if I can't find a solution.
Thanks for the replies.

Sure, Let us know how it goes!

Also, if you have the Vista CD, you could try a Restore Install?

Default Corupted OS

Thanks for the replies and the attempt to help. I took the computer back to the store where I bought it (it was less than a week old) and they say the operating system is corrupt. I left it with them to fix.... at no charge.
Thanks again.
