I seem to have one problem on certain occasions even with a brand new sata dvd burner where when going to boot up a disk whether XP, Vista, Linux live the drive sits idle like no disk was ever put in or it starts and then stops. Once I hit the reset or power off for a few it will suddenly fully load any disk up.
If that was a bad drive it would have been gone already. But this comes up only on some occasions and not while Windows or Linux is running. Flaky data cable? possible! I have a few onhand to test that out! The newer 20x dvd sata models are what people are looking at now. At this time the prices on them are below $30 unlike those seen for the old 1x/2x speed cd roms years back! Add $100 or more to that seen then!
