Just booting into any OS here it usually takes about the same amount of time without having actually used a stop watch. With ubuntu as the default OS I have to select the Vista loader as an option and then Vista(current default) or XP and see the desktop in under a minute for either version.

The one thing you will note fast when running more then one OS is that Windows no matter which version will always see the longer loading time. I haven't had Mac however to make a comparison there while different Linux distros and even Solaris load faster as a rule.

Ok, Sure

But it'll cost you!

Start > Run > msconfig > Boot TAB > Advanced Options > Number of Processes at the top left, set to the amount of cores you have

While you are in the msconfig don't forget to place a check mark in the box for "no gui boot". That works quite well for XP in seeing a faster load time.
