Question Skype... whats the catch???????

Hi all, I've just been looking at installing Skype on my PC so that i can talk to my GF overseas cheaper, as the cheapest way i can find at the moment is using a calling card on a Land-line and is costing me AU$1.00/min

It says it's "Free" but my question is, Are there any hidden supprises?

I've read that Skype is made by the same ppl that made Kazaa, and Kazaa had Spyware & Ads in it, and am wondering if Skype is the same?

Any other suggestions on how to call OS cheap would be a great help.

Skype is not free when you try to use it in calling landlines or mobiles, it costs you money, what is actually free in skype is something like the MSN Messenger voice chat but a little bit enhanced, guys on your contact list can give you a ring, missed call, leave you a message and so on.

PC to PC is fine. am just cautious about things that are advertised as "Free" or "Shareware", as after you install them you some how end up with a tonne more pop-ups or a larger junkmail inbox.

Then dont give out your e-mail details or create a fake e-mail. As for the pop-up's check the product with a spyware scanner or make sure it is all removed. Personally I suggest buying a premium product as the other "freeware" stuff is quite bad unless you trust the source
