Default Built new computer, but...

I built my new computer (amd 4200+X2 oc'd to 2.8ghz, 3850 256mb oc'd slightly, 2gb ddr2 800 ram, Tforce board, HEC orion psu, 80gb OS hdd) and i get vista installed and everything is working great except for 2 problems.

1. Vista won't recognize my IDE 250gb HDD. I plug it in to the ide cable and the psu and its running i can tell, but vista just will not recognize it. It is a good drive as i had it in an external drive and it worked just fine on my laptop, but vista will not recognize it.

2. On startup i always go to a screen that asks if i want to continue (press f1) or 2 other options that i have forgotten, and i have to press f1 to start up vista. Is there anyway i can just get to vista immediately? I put my 80gb hdd as what to boot from, but it still brings me to this screen.

Thanks, Mike

Agreed... why would you plug a HDD in the computer while it's on? Plain idiotic... (no offense)

Ya it was my bad, i really don't know what i was thinking...sucky part is i lost around 90gb worth of videos that i'm going to have to re-rip to a new hard drive.

I guess its just all part of a learning process though.

Thumbs up

Never plug in anything while the computer is on because you can no only damaged the part but also other parts.

And i think that you have fried the drive.
