Hello everyone,
This is my first post so i'll introduce myself. I am 17 and live in Switzerland at home with my parents. I am an addicted WoW gamer so I need my internet and I need it fast. I also love downloading stuff and having internet all to myself. Both my parents and my sister use the internet quite frequently and download stuff and really slow down my speed. I only get the best pings and D/L speeds at night when everyone is asleep. My mother is a real ***** when it comes to networking. I just bought a new router today as ours is quite bad and I have a bad connection to it since my room is quite far away. She completely freaked out of the idea in changing because she believes it will require a lot of dedication on her part even tho it really doesn't. She thinks that it's not going to work and she will never be able to use ebay again. She has such little trust in me even tho I was the one that installed the router in the first place. So that was 119CHF ($118) gone to waste. It just pisses me off how frustrated she gets when I ask to do anything with the router. My home line at the moment is on ISDN. Most home users use ADSL so it is very difficult to find ISDN routers around here unless you look from your ISP. My question is, would it be possible for me to set up my own COMPLETELY different line than theirs? I am just fed up with sharing with them and want a network which I can completely use to myself. I would ideally like a router setup in my room. Any other ideas will be more that accepted. Thanks in advance for all the responses. |

Well i would say yes, but you would need to get a secount telephone line and a new subscription to the isdn... so it will cost you a lot.... the reason you need a secount line is just b/c you cant have two modems on the same line...

You won't have a stronger connection. Basically you'll connect two routers to one "sender". It's the same as two receiver on one router... Two people are still using the same connection.

if you want a stronger signal get a wireless N router and a N adapter, they have the best range and speed. These are fairly new and are still pretty expensive but will strengthen your line.
