Well, I'm getting married in 6 days; April 25, 2008. If you remember my last thread I gave out a few details I believe. I'll just re-hash it all here.
I met my current fiancee a little over 4.5 years ago. I was 15 and she was 14, we lived 1 city apart. We met through mutual friends at the local mall. At first I was way too shy to say anything to her or even be around her, I guess she liked that. Eventually with the help of my friends I found the courage to ask her to be my girl friend and she said "yes." We have been inseparable ever since. Skip way ahead to the end of last year (2007.) Something kind of "sparked" in Ashleigh's mind that we should start taking our relationship very seriously. Both of us had graduated high school and were working full time jobs. I was looking for a place of my own and she wanted to move out of her house as well. We talked and talked, and eventually decided we were both very much in love and wanted to get married. I did not want to live together without being married mostly because I know my parents would be ashamed of me and her mother would definitely not approve. I hold her mother's opinion very high, as she has always supported me and made very large efforts to make me feel welcome in her home. It would be a huge mistake to ruin that trust and bond this deep into a relationship with her daughter. So I've put aside my current plans of building up my car and a bunch of other "guyish" hobbies and have gone head first into getting married to the woman I love. When we told our families what we wanted to do, they were all very supportive and excited...which was kind of a shock. I guess I never thought my parents could be this understanding, I underestimated them for sure. They were also married very young (18 and 22 I believe) and have always had a loving and happy life together. Jump to today; I'm getting married in 6 days! It seems like just yesterday I asked her mother permission to marry her daughter, and now here I am. Time has definitely flown by faster than I anticipated. Bills have been coming in left and right, thousands of dollars here and there. Eek! Surprisingly I have not gone into horrendous amounts of debt, which was my major concern throughout this entire ordeal. My family (extended and immediate) have helped out financially more than I could have asked for, which is a huge surprise and blessing. My parents surprised us with paying for half of the wedding expenses, and then paying for 4 days and night in South Padre Island for our honeymoon. Not only that, they threw Ashleigh a Bridal shower and have showered us both with gifts and furniture. Ashleigh's mother has also helped financially and will be helping us with our first grocery bill in the new apartment along with other unforeseen expenses after we move out. There is a lot more than I had realized, I'm glad I have someone looking out for us and letting us know what to expect. Thursday family from both sides will be flying and driving into town. We are having a rehersal wedding ceremony at the chapel and then we are all going back to the house to eat and talk. Friday is the big day, we are getting married at 7PM with a very fun reception afterwards. We've had over 100 RSVP's from friends and family, it will be pretty big. After all the shenanigans are done I've hired a limo service to take us to a fancy honeymoon suite downtown. Unknown to my wife, I've had the wedding planner stop by the room before we got there to prepare it with decorations, flowers, candy, etc. It should be very romantic, I really hope Ashleigh loves it. The next morning we head out to South Padre (thanks again to my parents.) Once we finally get there we'll again be staying in a very nice honeymoon resort right off the beach. We can walk out the door and dig our feet in the sand, I'm really excited. What we do there is still undecided, I hope to jsut explore and relax! We'll be getting back the evening of May 30th, where we will have to stay at Ashleigh's mom's house for the night. The next morning we move into our apartment. This is probably my favorite part, because it means we have finally have a place of our own and the privacy I've wanted for so many years. Thanks for reading. More than likely I will bring my laptop to South Padre where I might find the time to post up pictures from the wedding, along with pictures I take while I'm there. No promises though.

Funny part is I turn 20years old, 15 days after my wedding. I don't expect anybody to buy me anything naturally...I think I'll just make it a party day with my friends.
![]() I still call Ashleigh my "girlfriend", it's going to take a lot of effort to introduce her as my "wife." Just sounds so weird!!!!!

Congrats man! I'm sure she'll love it.
Weird spelling though. Never seen an "Ashleigh" before. But still, have fun!

Yeah her mom wanted to spell it differently.
No getting pregnant!!! You'll jinx us! We don't want kids any time soon, far too young and poor. I still have some things I want to do before I commit to putting all my time and energy into raising children. It's definitely something I want to do in the future, I'm just too young right now and don't trust myself.

I'm glad everything went well for you, (I want to say... Eric? Sorry if I'm wrong.)
I wish you both best wishes and many happy, loving years. Just remember, arguments happen even in the happiest of relationships, and the first little while together will be truly testing in a lot of ways. I know you can make it all work, though. Four and a half years is a long time to get to know someone. Love is stronger than anything, so I've come to notice. Congratulations! Best Wishes! I'm hoping that I can make it to this point as well with the person I'm currently with.

Yes, Eric is my name.
And yours is Ashley. ![]() Thanks everyone for the positive messages. Everyone keeps asking me if I am nervous or having doubts, and I can honestly say I'm still very stable right now. Maybe Friday morning I'll get nervous? I think I'm more anxious about seeing a lot of my family right now. They all live on the other side of the country, most I have not seen in a few years at least.
