Weird Sound Issue

I just got my computer hooked back up after doing some renovations in my room, and when I plugged in all the speakers for my Creative Inspire 6.1 speakers the audio is acting up. I can use CM6501 audio configuration program or the windows sound configuration to do the 'tests' although its not recognizing all of my speakers (yes all cables are plugged in correctly.) But when I open a program or game I get no sound. The flip side to this, is that if I use Windows media center to play audio or a movie they work fine...sort of.

When they all were working for a brief period of time, all programs only played out of two of the speakers, I assume this is what it sees as stereo left and right, but not out of the other surround sound speakers. Is there a program I can download to take care of operating all of this or what do i do?

try redownloading all the drivers

Check if your speakers are connect properly both with each other and the PC, check the settings of the whole audio thing, reset everything to a 'default', like what sthompson said download drivers, or check the BIOS making sure everything is running normal.
