peavy makes a great guitar with 2 humbuckers and a floyd rose 199.00 very good from i have heard

Peavey is alright. I have a Peavey myself (just because I got it for free. I would never buy one) but there's better guitars for the money.

If your playing metal or rock go with something with 2 humbuckers as the others have said. epiphone is good for beginners and ibanez makes some good budget guitars. but the sound is really going to depend on the amp and the effects you use.

Look at Jack White, he plays a POS guitar that's hollow and made out of plastic, yet he has the sickest guitar tone ever, mostly because of his sweet Fender Twin Reverb amplifiers and his old Silvertones. The amp is what makes your sound. I'd take a Epi Les Paul and a Twin Reverb over a Gibson 335 and a 15W Behringer any day.
