So I'm thinking of getting an electric guitar but I'm kind of a noob in this department so I need some advice. I understand there are a lot of guitar players amongst you so I'm really seeking some serious advice for a beginners guitar.
I don't really have a budget (just got paid, booyah!) but at the same time I'm not looking for something ridiculously expensive. Value for money is my first priority. Bear in mind that I suck I've been learning acoustic for 6 months and that blows so I figured I'd stepped things up. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

You could look into Squiers which are made by Fender, alot of beginners buy them. Also Epiphone sell pretty good guitars for beginners.
What type of music do you wanna learn? Then we can give you an idea of what guitar best suites your needs! You'll also need an amp, you wont need something to big/loud but getting a half decent amp will give you a much better sound/tone from your guitar...

You would want a guitar with humbuckers (prefibly) This will give you your desired tone. Look into Les Paul copies from Epiphone or anything with humbuckers. Just so you know humbuckers are a type of pickup which is mostly used in rock/metal.
Look into Kornowski's LP copy it sounds nice (in his videos) and Im sure he would recommend it. Squires or Strat copys would be OK in rock but not so much metal, the sound will be too thin. Also take a look at Ibanez, they make good guitars for metal and rock but I have no experience with them. But definatly take amps into consideration! And dont buy a BC Rich guitar ![]()

Hey Man!
![]() Well, for Rock and such, Like Matt said, humbuckers are a must! Which means that, the majority of Strat Style guitars are out, as they use mainly single coil pick-ups... Which won't produce the heavy sound you're after. Something like this would be good, for a first electric... It may not be the best sounding guitar, but it'll sure do it's job! http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/s...oduct_id/14147 Or, if it isn't your style, something like this; http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/s...oduct_id/36239 BUT, if you really want to splash out, and have a great sound, a nice finish guitar & and some versatility, I really recommend this; http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/s...oduct_id/36361 As for Amps, I have a Fender Frontman 15G, It's only 15watt, but I've never had occasion to play it on anything above 7! ![]() If you've got any questions, feel free to PM me! ![]()

I'd go for a cheap second hand that won't lose it's value. Such as a Jackson (maybe not all too cheap even second hand but it'll keep value pretty nice). Ofcourse a 100 dollar Fender imitation will be fine to learn on but moving on to something better is nescesairy when you start getting "the feel".

Check out the Yamaha Pacificas as well. I'm not certain about the different variations of them, but every one I've played has been really good. http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/...FQJjMAodlWLfwg
Maybe check out ESP as well http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=66642 I dunno how good their 'budget' stuff sounds, but it'll almost certainly play well
