how install programs in linux
i have ubuntu. I don;t understand how to install vlc player, or anything in general. i think i installed a program, but was unable to find where it was, so couldnt open it. Can anyone help please.

On the top menu bar, click applications and move down to "Install new programs". Then click that and go to "Media" and you should see it in the list. Check it and then hit apply. it will download and install automatically.
