So, Newegg is officially sold out of the Palit 8800 GTS 1 gig Sonic and I don't think they are getting any more. So for virtually the same price I can get 2 Palit 9600 GT 1 gig sonics, or for $40 more after rebates I can get 2 Palit 8800 GT 1 gig sonics. So, what do you recommend? 9600gt or 8800 gt? Both have 1 gig memory each and are sonic editions.
For reference evga 790i ultra sli mobo q6600 4 gigs corsair ddr3 1333 700w OCZ power supply vista 64 PALiT NE/960TSX0202 GeForce 9600GT SONIC 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card PALiT NE/880TSXT302 GeForce 8800GT SONIC 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card Thanks

I checked gpureview.com and when you adjust the memory clocks to match the specs on these Sonic editions, the 9600gt actualy has slightly better bandwidth than the 8800gt.
9600gt VS 8800gt Thanks

I'm not going with a 512. Games in the next year or so will become much more vram dependent and 1 gig chips will become the standard. So, like I said, 9600gt sonic or 8800gt sonic. Both will be in SLI.

that's not exactly true, because the vram may be able to handle it, but the core cannot. so its kind of futile to buy two 1 gig cards, but thats your choice, and if it works, all the better. but anyways, two 8800GT's are best, the 8800GT alone destroys the 9600GT

The 8800GT has much much more stream processors, raw power beats somewhat "raw" bandwith.

I would say the 8800 based on reviews and performance. Isn't the 9600 the same as the 8700 or 8600? If the 8800 beats sli 8700, I think the 8800 will be the best option.
