Default External Hard drive

would it be possible to take a hard drive from one desktop computer that is the exact same as another. and connect a USB to it to form an external hard drive for the other computer?

It certainly would! You would want to get an external Harddrive case, which you will put the drive in and it will connect via USB to the PC. Make sure it matches the drive (either SATA or IDE).

idk about that last bit.... i couldnt understand it, but u can take an internal drive and make it into an external drive for use on another computer. You would take the internal HDD and place it into one of these:http://www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=CSE

A SATA drive would have a small flat cable about 1/2" wide, while a IDE drive would have a flat, ribbed ribbon cable about 2" wide.

That is a good idea, but most mobos only give you a IDE port for optical drives...

You'll need to format it first.
