Default AVG Install Issue

I'm trying to install AVG on a build for a friend, but I'm getting a weird message I've never seen when installing AVG. (See attached picture) I downloaded the package right off the Cnet Download center, and when I had the same issue with that one, I got the one directly off the AVG site. Same thing.

Help!

That either seems really weird, have you tried to just put program files and hit install?

Tuffie.

I just did a recommended install and didn't do anything special. I just followed the install and no matter what I do, it brings me to that and it won't let me finish the install.

I searched to the package file, but it wants a install.bat file (Or something similar) extension.

It could just be that your download got corrupt. Delete the downloaded file or files if you downloaded from more than one site. I either get my download from www.download.com or www.free.grisoft.com

Yeah I was thinking that also.

But I didn't think the exe would run at all if he had gotten a corrupt dl.

Try clearing out your temporary files before attempting a reinstall, e.g. using CCleaner.

Thanks guys. I ran CCleaner and downloaded version 8.0 and it installed and updated just fine. Now this computer (One I'm on right now) can go to my friend who is in serious need of a better system than her junkheap.

It's nothing special. Just a Compaq PResario 6000 w/ P4 @ 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 80GB HDD, DVD-ROM, CD-RW (I think? I need to test it to see.)

Well I went down with the http://free.grisoft.com/ download and thats what it gave me for free.

I did want to put 1 GB in it and I thought I had 2 512 sticks laying around - but I forgot they were 256mb sticks. Needless to say, I was pissed.
