Default Trouble with network...

SThompson-

I have to ask... what version of VISTA is it?! Home, Prem. Business, or Utlimate?

And without it, can the XP systems see the shared file folders? That is also very important to know.

Although you might think it's too obvious to ask, but it helps me to understand where the real issue is in order to help.

XP and Vista DO work together with shared folder!! I am using it now. Here's the steps to do so:

1. Set folder sharing in vista
2. Go on the xp machine and go to control panel and make it classic menu
3. Double click "Network Setup Wizard"
4. Go through the steps and make sure you use "current area connection"

You need to make sure that both PC's are on the same workgroup as well, check that by right clicking on "My Computer", and go to computer name.

Sometimes scientists make things alot harder than they need to. All they've gotta do is put a big spring on the ground where they think it's gonna land, or send a mission to the moon to erect a sign that says "Welcome to Earth".
