AVG and Avast Antivirus are both terrific programs, and they're free! And much less of a system hog. I think they even have real time scanning! I tried to open a random file, and Avast popped up about it be a trojan Without even me scanning!

The only antivirus program I have installed is AVG. Norton or McAfee are not on my computer. I also didn't install AOL, MSN or any other internet providers except the one I use. I do have the typical games (Freecell, Solitaire, Mindsweeper, etc.) but I'm not sure how to delete them.

The thing is, all these things were installed on my computer before the reinstall (Mcafee, AOL, games, and much more) and yet the computer was not this slow.

Often, not always, when I go to open a program or switch between programs it can take 15-30 seconds (which is longer than it used to take).

"You have used the System Configuration Utility to change the way Windows starts. The Sys Config Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to display and the utility to run every time Windows starts. Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made to the Sys Config Utility."

Is this a problem? Do I need to undo what I unchecked in the startup area?
Ok, let me help u out a bit.

you have used the...

this is completely normal. just check the box so it doesnt pop up again and your good. If you would post up a screen shot/ list of the startup items in the msconfig utility startup tab, i would gladly offer assistance in what program is what u need, and some that are just bringing you down.
