I kind of sucks at computers, so please excuse my unknowingness.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to try Ubuntu on my laptop. I installed it, but found out it wasn't something for me. Now I want my Windows Vista back, but when I try to reinstall Vista it says that the patrion need to be NTFS formatted.
I honestly don't know what to do. How do I format my patrion to NTFS, so I can get my Vista back?

First, make sure all the data you want to keep is backed up. Secondly, use your Windows Vista installation DVD (or CD-ROM) to reformat your whole hard drive.

NTFS stands for New Technology Filing System. It's the file system Vista and Windows XP use. I would reformat the whole hard drive and delete every partition using your Windows installation DVD and then create one new partition that covers the whole hard drive. The definition of a partition is this: a partition is a division of a hard drive.

A hard drive is permanent storage device that does not lose the information stored on it when the computer is turned off.

You can actually use both Linux and Windows operating systems on your notebook (laptop). It's called "dual booting". When you dual boot it does the following: When your computer starts up it gives you the option to select either Linux or the Windows operating system.

I currently use openSuse Linux and Windows Vista on my computer. It does take some learning, but you can benefit from both operating systems if they are both correctly installed on your notebook. Both Linux and Windows have their positives and negatives.

But..
When I put in my recovery disc and say that I want to format the patrion with ubuntu on it, it gives me an error message.
Should I just delete the patrion then, og make a new one?

I'm not sure if the windows installation disk has support for Linux partitions. You might need to use the Ubuntu disk to format all the partitions. If it gives you the option for NTFS format it for that. If not just format them so they're unpartitioned space, then use the windows disk to format into NTFS
