Default Ram speed, 800 vs 1000

Would I see a real noticeable difference in my gaming if I ran the higher speed ram? I am in the process of finalizing my build and trying to get some things squared away.

i can change my ram from 800mhz to 1066mhz whenever i want, and i can tell you definitively that it makes no actual difference. just get some good 800mhz ram with a cas latency of four or three and your set.

^ I agree, get the 800MHz, you wont see a big or a worth-the-buck difference between those speeds. Take note though as lovely said, and make sure you get 4 cas latency at least.

Let me recommend you the house special, Crucial BallistiX, great memory.

Unless your overclocking, the 800mhz is fine. I'm ordering that exact DDR2-1000 kit tonight, this 800mhz ram i have now is holding back my benchmarking capabilities!

Your mean 500mhz, and DDR2-1000.

Its just much more simple saying 1000mhz since thats the only thing people know

DDR2-800 is 400mhz ram, DDR2-1000 is 500mhz ram. Thats why CPUZ will say its 500mhz

500x2=1000. I don't know who on earth thought of doing it that way

Oh yeah yeah. I get you know. Yeah it does say 499.5MHz (yep, I can't claim the 1000MHz ). I guess it's because its DDR2... I don't know. Mine is stock 400MHz though...
