After I put my computer in standby mode then turn it back on, it goes to the logon screen. I type in the password, but then the screen goes black and the monitor LED turns orange. It seems to lose the signal. This only happens after putting it in stand-by. Otherwise my computer works flawlessly.
Could vista be causing this, or could it be hardware? When I first got my computer I know this didn't happen, but it gradually started and now it happens every time I put my computer in stand-by. I have no idea why this happens, but am contemplating reinstalling windows. Perhaps that would fix it. PS: It is not my Bios or graphics drivers. I updated both already and this did not help.

I'm sticking with dying/bad memory, or just a reformat...

Could be memory, but I kind of doubt it... I do know my laptops have been rather iffy when it comes to suspending/sleeping. My HP would almost always lock up before entering sleep, or bluescreen during sleep and reboot. I know my grandparents Compaq has also done both, and my Fujitsu has locked up once before sleeping... So, Vista does seem to have problems with this.

I ran memory test for quite a while but yeah, and I'm pretty sure it was error free. I stopped it after a few hours.
I figured out that the logon screen is the problem. It only loses connection after I type in my password, and it is not freezing, just losing the video signal. I disabled the logon screen and it loaded up normally. why would the logon screen cause a problem in conjunction with sleep mode?
