Ok. A sound card is not required, but how would the sound be "stock". I should mention that the system will be hooked up to a separate stereo...

Depends.
How you like the sound.
My stock sound is perfectly fine.
From my P35-DS3R.
And like 9 year old speakers.

I'm not sure if you would be able to hook your computer up to a stereo.. you probably should but i'm not 100% sure on that. Another member would probably be more then happy to check for you.

Hope this helps.

after playing around with vista for the past day i seem to like it but there are a few things i don't like but i would go for the 64 bit vista ultimate if you were to go for vista.

The GTS uses the old G80 Core.
The new GT uses the new G92 Core..
Thats about it.
And the GT runs cooler..

Hope this helps.
