heys guys, ive got a question about my system idle process. at any given time it will spike to anywhere from 50 to 90%, causing my system to hang for around 5-10 seconds. its getting quite annoying and id like to know how to stop it.
any ideas? thanks in advance ![]()

system idle process isn't what is making your computer hang, i believe it is just a simple process that keeps track of what compute cycles aren't currently being used, say your processor is running at 30% then system idle process would be 70% i'm not quite sure if that explination is spot on, but i do know one thing. System idle process isn't what is making your system hang.

In an ideal world System Idle Process would be 99%. Scroll through your processes and post up which one is hogging the CPU next time it's hanging.

the problem is, when the system hangs, its not exactly responsive.... i have to wait for task manager to open, and it opens right when everything goes back to normal.
i think ive pinpointed the problem though... my system hangs when im using AIM (aol instant messenger) and i close iTunes.

Just leave the Task Manager up till it bogs down and see whats eating up your CPU time.
