Default open box items worth the price?

sometimes open box items are priced at great deals. but now the question is, are they really worth the such low prices of up to 50% off? open box items are still bran new but its just been opened right? or are they returned products that people RMA and gets tested for functional purposes and just gets thrown back into the box? if this is the case, then how is this different than refurbished items? anything else anyone should know about open boxed items of if they're really worth the price tags?

Default

i just found out these items are returned for whatever reasons and are not tested again. then this mean it's even worst than refurbished items? at least reburbished ones go through some extensive testing before being sent out again...
