To cut a long story short…
It’s my mum’s birthday soon and when I was round at my parents’ house last week I was looking online for a present for her (which I bought) that is meant to be a big surprise. The only problem is that the exact address of the present I bought keeps appearing in the address bar every time the first of the address is entered. This defeats the aim of the present being a surprise. I always use Tools\Internet Options etc to clear the history, cookies, temporary internet files and autocomplete etc but this particular address won’t go away, it KEEPS coming up. There are a couple of other addresses that do this as well but I’m less concerned about them. One person I asked said it might be something to do with autofill. Does anyone know how I can stop this address from constantly re-appearing? I want to avoid if possible using anything that will clear things off the computer because it is their computer and not mine. |

Sorry but I've already said in my first post:
'I want to avoid if possible using anything that will clear things off the computer because it is their computer and not mine.' I had things like ccleaner in mind when I wrote that. |

what a totally useless answer!
does this occur when you type a search into google, in which case you need to clear IE autofil history http://www.cybertechhelp.com/tutoria...mplete-history if it occurs when you type in the url then the clear history should have done the trick

It happens when I start to type an address into the address bar not when I do a google search.
It doesn't do this with all the sites that have been visited; only this one and a few others. Obviously this site is the one I don't want to be seen because then the present I've bought will be revealed! |

ok how did you clear the history did you go to Documents and Settings>Name>Local Settings>History.
(C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\Local Settings\History) Select the history files you didnt want and hit <Delete> key.

Thanks I'll try that.
I always clear the history by going through Tools\Internet Options etc... Are there any other things I can be trying as well? If I can get together a list of things to try then that increases my chances of solving the problem the next time I use their computer. I'm planning on trying tonight before the present is revealed! One person I spoke to said it may have something to do with 'autofill'. What did that mean? |
