[Help] Burning DVDs... [Program]

Hey guys.
Once again i'm in need of your help..

My friend brought over a movie (on a cd) ripped from his original DVD (forgot which movie) and i would like to burn a DVD with the file and make it playable on a regular DVD player. I thought i mite need a program for this... so i posted it in the "General Software" section. I've tried using Nero7 and i cannot input the file into the burning "log" (call it what you want). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok i'm a bit confused is the file in dvd format or avi?
