Default Super Fans for CPU's

Is it entirely necessary to buy some crazy fan for CPU's or is it ok to use the standard fan that comes WITH the CPU?

For Instance
Using:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835887002

Rather than:
Stock fan that comes with E8400

The stock fan will suffice if you just want a fan that works. However if you want a nice and quiet computer, or want to do a lot of OCing, an aftermarket heatsink is needed.

So you're saying that if I want to OC my E8400 3.0 to 3.5 or so, that I will need to throw on that third party fan to prevent overheating?

Yes, the E8400 is 3.0. But I want to clock it at 3.5 without overheating or anything. But I just don't think I would need a third party fan for it.

I turn my computer off when I'm not using it (for periods of time) so I don't leave it running all day. I figure that would lower the need for a third party fan.

the temps will rise radically, within 1- 5 minutes its fully heated....

Look, it will help alot, and youll get a better OC...

Ive OCed from 2.13Ghz to 2.5Ghz with a stock HSF, with a slight (1 degree) temp increase (i never raised the voltage...)

Where do you look to check the temp on the CPU? Do I have to download a program to do so or is there a way to monitor it through BIOS or Windows?

You can use CoreTemp to monitor the temps. Although, apparently the E8400's have bad temp sensors.
