Default Computer

Ok well I need to upgrade my processor and ram. And I know which ram to get. But I don't know what processor to get. I'm not asking someone to find me one but to tell me how to find it. So I may pick one for myself. Something with a chipset? Idk but please don't tell me to google it. Thank you guys, Halofreak

You said Processor then you said Chipset. Are you looking for a Processor or a Motherboard or both?

If you don't know how to get that, download a system information app like PCwizard or Everest.

I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on.

you need to find out your motherboard make and model like stranglehold said. then from that you can find out what SOCKET type your processor has to be. then any processor of that socket should work.

Sometimes finding the compatibility is as easy as checking the socket and chipset, oftentimes this is not enough. The board itself may not be compatible, even through BIOS updates.. To be absolutely certain research in all areas must be done.
