Default Xp getting slower..vista faster :S

Hey all,
Just an observation of mine, which may very well sound silly...but here goes. When i first got my good old Athlon 64 3200+ which Xp pro boy was it fast! On a fresh install of windows it would be soo fast. That was about 3 or 4 years ago. The other day i did i reformat of it, and installed Windows XP Pro back onto it...it was prety much just as slow as it was before the format!

Example 2, my new system (In sig) installed Windows on it, expecting it to scream along...not overly impressive. Pretty much no faster than my old Athlon 64 Machine...in booting windows at least

Then I look at my laptop which is running Vista, and see that it boots fairly quickly and also runs fast while in windows. Not trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist or something, but why is it that XP seems to be getting worse?

I just think that its really odd. So now im thinking i'll jump to Vista 64bit to take advantage of my processor and hope vista is faster...

yeah and ?

you shouldn't even post this.
just doing a simple search on CF will bring many XP/Vista hate threads, and you should have search for one and post in there.
there really is no point in saying vista is better or xp is better just use an OS which meet your needs

Gee's dude, settle down? I'm not looking for an XP vs Vista debate here, more wondering if there was any legit reason for XP no longer running as fast as it once did...

It's not xp that slows down, it's your whole computer. Of course if you have a 3 year old pc and you haven't reformatted or cleaned it up, then it will eventually slow down. Xp runs extremely fast still.

it could also just seem slower because your used to the dualcore now..then going back to the singlecore athlon is alot slower look at your rig! CPU: Intel E8200 @ 3.4Ghz
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
RAM: 2GB Corsair TwinX6400C4DHX
GRAPHICS: eVGA 8800GT 512MB
HDD: 500GB & 320GB = 820GB
CASE & Cooling: Antec 900 & Zalman it should be fast as hell compared to a athon setup
