Default Returning a PSU

Ok so my Ultra PSU went down the other day. It has a lifetime warranty on it but in order to return it, they said you need the original receipt. What if you bought it from a friend that didn't have the original receipt? Are you screwed?

Cheap PSUs - 2% of system costs, responsible for 28% of system deaths
As Sealed Stick was removed, lost or damaged, it shall be out of warranty validity.
- The "Warranty void if removed" sticker on numerous CoolerMaster PSUs.
