Default [Released] Tri-core CPU (Only from AMD)

Well i was browsing around newegg...
And i saw the new X3 (tri core AMDs).
Here is the link : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...name=Phenom+X3
Looks like they only have 3 models for now.

Anyone know what the point is of this "Tri-Core" ?
Intel is probably already far along on their 8 and 16 core processors.
Am i right?

Boo AMD.
Intel is the best for processors.

Its probably a cheap alternative to quad-cores.

..If you boo at AMD why are you even looking at their processors..?

This was already discussed in amd releassing triple cpu???

It's purely a yeild increasing thing. If one core isn't functioning properly they turn it off and sell it as a 3-core instead of a quad core.
