Yeah, I read it.

your right. the original owner can easily transfer with a phone call and get a new key. More power to him. It worked.........good.
he will find out when he takes the update.

OEM License Agreement

I've read that and there's nothing in there that says you can't transfer the license.

Here's an article with a MS rep. He states that users can transfer the license.

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2087792,00.asp

EDIT: Actually, I reread the article and Microsoft still claims that users can't transfer the license after it's tied to the motherboard. Well, whatever. People do anyway.

the license is hardware oriented. If you give me your installation cd i promise i will have to buy it. then again i use a xp professional corporate. I hate buying sheet..........Your comment is correct. at least esthetically. I think they will figure it out in this case. i hope it works. i don't have a problem with. good luck.

Thats just their rules, it can be done. I,ve installed OEMs and System Builders on other computers. It all depends on who answers the phone and what questions they ask, and what answers you choose to give.

I think you guys smoke too much pot. lmao

Ok, seriously.. I think you guys are getting confused. OEM and System Builder license are two different things.

I have a system builder pack sitting on the floor here beside me. There's a system builder license on the pack that outlines what you can do with the software. What it tells you is that you may only distribute the software according to the EULA... blah blah blah.

That license is NOT transferrable in any way, shape or form.

The EULA, which is what binds the OP, states that the OEM software must be provided with a piece of equipment essential to the core functions of the computer and that the software is tied to the system it's installed on (which, ultimately, boils down to the mobo, really).

It is NOT transferrable either. Whether it can be done or not is another story. Anything can be done if you use your brains. I have a dozen ways of getting around things like that.. The only time I use them is when I'm forced to.

For example, I had a client buy licenses to comply with the WPA. Every time you booted the computer it said "Windows needs to be activated before you can log on". You click ok and it says "Windows is already activated" and you get stuck in an endless loop. After four calls to Microsoft, with a fresh installation id each time and two repair installs later.. I got pissed off. So.. I hacked it. Done deal. He's still the legitimate owner.. MS couldn't fix the problem.. So I did.
