im getting a gb of ram upgrade and i just want to make shure that 2 different brands will work together if there the same kind like ddr pc whatever also if they each have different voltages and Cas Latency stated in the specs does it matter

The make and model board used there as well as the two sets of memory you are talking about would be a help. An older board like in some prebuilds may only take single sided valure memory and won't run dual sided dimms.

That's dimms seeinhg a row of small ic chips on both sides rather then just one. The single sided memory also leaned over a certain amount while all dual sided sits straight up.

The first thing to look at is the specifications for the board itself whenever plaaning to add more memory or replace the existing to see just what is supported as far type along with speed. Often you mix DDR266 PC2100 memory with DDR400 PC3200 to see the faster memory slowed down to the PC2100 speed.

Ok that board sees a max of 2g of either DDR2400 or DDR2533 memory. The specifications for the ECS model are seen at http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pro...uID=44&LanID=0

That's 240pin dimms not the older DDR400 PC3200 184pin memory. I think you mis identified the memory or got some labbeled wrong originally since DDR won't work. There were a few boards not too many that did allow a pair of dimm slots for both types mainly by Asrock....

Don't make an error buying the wrong memory. Besides you could easily go for 2gb of DDR2 533 just for the faster memory and capcacity since DDR2 prices are quite a bit lower at this time. That memory is also gone at this time. When arrivng at newegg no item found was the message seen now. sorry that must be the wrong one because i know that is the RAM cause that is what it said it said i bought it supports ddr 400 says so right on the motherboard this is my motherboard

The link for the board you posted before was for a totally different model. That's where the wires got crossed. The first was a 915P-A2 while the one you just provided a link for is the 915PL-A2. It only takes one chararacter to be different to end up seeing a totally different set of specs.

As far as the two pages on the memory they look almost identical. Both see a CAS 2.5 and run at 2.5v. I don't see why you should have any problem onn the915PL-A2 model board since the memory standard is DDR400.
