Default quad core question

if you have a intel quad core 2.66 GHz, is that 4 cores doing 2.66 GHz?

yes, the clock speed refers to the speed of the cores.

In other words, it's 2.66 GHz "per" core.

its 2.66ghz per core. but it does not equal to 10.64ghz like some ebay scam sales say they do.
