Hey all.
This is my moms idea, and she wanted me to find a solution to it, so i need your guys help. The road i live on is fairly busy and the speed limit is 40 km/h. The average car driving down the road probably reaches at least 60km/h. My mom want to get some stop lights put up, or get the speed limit better enforced because we have seen many near accidents and have nearly gotten into some because of the ignorance of other drivers. I had the idea of setting up my laptop and my web cam pointing out my front window, right at an intersection that is almost never stopped at (it is a 3 way stop) and sending a DVD of it to my local town hall along with a letter explaining the situation and requesting action to be made on it. Then i realized it would be even better if i could get the speed of the cars as well. Basically, the question is, is there any program that will allow me to get the speed of the passing cars with my web cam? If not, is it possible to make something that will tell the traffic speed? Thanks for reading through this and thanks in advance for any help. -Brad
