I have a Benq Joybook A52E.
The driver cd it came with contained all Vista drivers (machine came with linux) so I downloaded the xp drivers after installing xp on it. The sound driver was for both xp and vista. The sound works, but it is especially low for watching dvds and if i play music from wmp, for example, it starts at normal level and then straight away crackles and drops down to a lower volume. Throughout a piece of music any percussion or loud bass booms with crackling and distorted fuzzing. I've tried reinstalling the sound driver. I've tried downloaidng different codecs. I've tried checking all sound controllers from the control panel and any other program - no luck. I hope it's not a hardware issue where there is something physically wrong..? Cheers in advance. |

I'd have to say it is most likely a problem with the speaker. You could always try and hook up another set of speakers or headphones and try them out.
