Default Ubuntu 8.04 Cool Tweaks or Mods

im new to this and would like to know if there are any cool ones ive got compiz fusion and avan dock bar thing but would like to know if there is any thing else out there that would be neat to add

Try installing Screenlets.

@ the terminal
sudo apt-get install screenlets

Also you could change your GDM Screen and such
Check out http://www.gnome-look.org/ for some ideas

yea i have a capture/tv card but not sure if it works in ubuntu,, and what is screenlets?

my next ? is also how would i got abouts gettin the bar on the bottom with the icons in it like to look like this pic

Is it processor intensive to run stuff like compiz fusion?

Surprisingly not. Got it to work pretty nicely on my moms P3. You don't even notice the draw on anything current.

i had a p3 dell laptop 1.2ghz and it couldnt run comp-fusion but i got some stuff figured out i just cant seem to figure the skins and all the stuff in that pic out and could use some help

What you're probably looking for is something like AWM (Avant Window Manager). It acts much like the OSX Window Manager. The one in the pic is one kinda like AWM but I dont know the name off the top of my head.
