Default XP SP2 problem

I just updated an old Dell Inspiron 8200 with XP SP2 and now my Sprint broadband won't work. I've had Sprints instore techs and customer DIService try to fix it and they says it is a windows problem. I keep getting an error 720,unable to connect with remote computer, but sprint says that they don't have an error 720. This started the first time I tried to connect after SP2. Any idea how to fix this? Can I reinstall SP2 to fix it or do I need to remove and reinstall? I was thinking about using Restore to remove SP2 to see if that fixed it.
