From what I have read the Bios does let you OC a little! I plan on getting one in a while just to mess around the house! It will be fun just testing out different stuff!

I personally not recommend these. The HDD size is too small...

For schoolwork, some, say, 4GB harddrive (well actually it's a flash drive) should be more than enough, I should imagine. You don't install games that take a thousand gigs of HD space on a computer like that, anyway, and you certainly wouldn't carry your p0rn/illegal movies collection with you at school, would you

Also, if the HDD/FDD size matters, you could just buy a external HDD, they ain't too expensive.

Good point.
But that little thing don't have DVD-Rom as well. So when you want to watch some DVD, you need to ask your friend to tranfer the DVD to the external HDD and watch it... Or get an external DVD-Reader?

In that case, you possibly looking at around $400 to spend. And the cheap laptop starting at $500-600. That's why I say I don't recommend.
But if he have a desktop, this thing is just like a show off gadgets anyway.

for his purposes and situation it is a very viable machine, especially with the ability to use SD cards.
