Default Video editing Software

Ok, guys, so i'm finally going to order that capture card so we can transfer the stuff off the camcorder onto DVD. I was wondering, whether or not i would have to have software already on the comp to 'record' the video off my camcorder. Also, i'm going to need some editing software too.

I'm just taking suggestions, anything is appreciated, thnx guys

btw, here is the capture card.
