Default Register Clean up Programs

I do not really understand how register clean up programs, I assume it looks for invalid register notations. If that is it, why would you need to purchase updates to a register cleanup program? What additions would they be adding to the program, or is this their way of continueing to get revenue?

The registry is a massive mess, and takes a quite intelligently engineered piece of software to do a good job, and new features/such are being developed to make the cleaner either more effective or faster, or both... I think.

I do it all by hand!! Way safer than a program! I do cleanups with ccleaner but that doesnt get rid of near as much keys as it should!
