Thumbs up USB Power Problem

Hi all,

Could i pls have some help. I'm on a school laptop and i put my external hard drive in and it says that is has exceeded the amount of power. now my hard drive is a home made lead and my other one broke now..... it is running out of one port.

On another school laptop that crashed it worked on but not on the one i'm currently on..... so i'm not sure what do to.... is there a way i can change the power settings on the port.... cause i use my external hard drive A LOT and it is important for me to have it working.....

could you guys pls help me....

Nothing you can do. On some portable HDD's you must have a Power Adapter for it to work.

Beings it is Homemade I think you are out of luck.
