Question Xp Wireless vs Vista Wireless

Hey all.

I have a problem with my laptop, i have been playing Warcraft 3 (dota) on xp for a long time, with no problems what so ever, then i changed to Vista, and now my game lag, and therefore i lag my friends game.

This only happens when we are playing on wireless. (fast enough net, as i said, xp had no problems)

So my questions is, is the wireless driver in Vista slower then the one in XP?, and is there a way to resolve this?

Love from Denmark, Per Koustrup.

Eddit, some specs on my pc would probely be nice

IBM ThinkPad, Z60m
32 bit Vista (business)
Service pack 1
Intel Pentium M processor 1.86 GHz
1.5 GB ram.

Find out the model and manufacturer of your Wireless card, then go to the official website of the card. From there find a support page and look for your model, then find drivers... usually they will show 2 sets of drivers, one for xp and the other for vista!

If you can't find it, tell me your model and manufacturer name and I will try to point you to the right driver...

Chances are that you are using the generic wireless card drivers in vista

I am guessing it is dodgy driver support or so much over head from the OS (since vista is much more resource hungry) it is causing your system to just run slower in general.

Although vista is resource hungry... but that is a memory thing, nothing more, nothing less! It will be the generic vista wi-fi driver that is the caused of the lag

Thanks for the reply.

According to my Device manager, is it Atheros Communications Inc.
i can't see what model, i will ask some friends (school computers, therefore i dont know so much about whats inside)

Well i googled Atheros Communications Inc and found the website, http://www.atheros.com/,

Pressed "Product Search" and got a "Network Timeout"

Help appreciated

Again, More love from Denmark - Per Koustrup
