Default "Program Stopped Working" Message

Windows Vista SP1. On occasion when closing a program, a message "Program stopped working. Windows will notify you if a solution is available" is displayed. I close the message display and continue to use my PC without problem. I've observed that most if not all of these incidents occur when I have multiple programs running and more than one window open. When closing one or more windows display, (I'm not sure what you call the displays) I will find the message/display in question and typically it is the last message displayed. Hope I made sense of this! Can you advise. I have completed a full system restore for another reason. The system runs OK otherwise.

I had this problem too! You can disable the the service! Go to run and type services.msc and hit enter. Then go down to "Windows error reporting" and then right click and hit "properties" and change the "startup type" from automatic to DISABLE. Then hit apply and ok. Then the message window wont show up anymore!
