I am currently using a hitachi desktar hard drive. it uses a 4 pin molex connector for power.
![]() I want to buy a WD Raptor, and I notice the power connector is different. What kind of power connector is this? ![]() |

Its a SATA power connector, most power supplies come with them, however, you can get a 4pin Molex to SATA Power Connector for about $3 on Newegg.

Like said above its a Sata power connector, if your P/S has one it looks like this

The bottom picture you supplied xbadwolfx, contains a photo of the SATA data transfer connector (The smaller one) and the SATA power connector (The bigger one) The top picture you supplied looks like it supports both IDE and SATA

there is no IDE anywhere in any of those pictures, where are you looking?

I think he meant it could support both a 4pin molex and a SATA power connector. Any PSU these days should come with both, seeing as it's a quality unit.

Cleric, if you look at the first picture in his first post, he shows a hard drive. That specific hard drive in that picture supports both IDE and SATA.

If this is the picture you are talking about there is no IDE anywhere in there. You seem to be confusing a 4-pin molex connector with an IDE connector for some reason...

Oh oops I looked at it wrong too. Thats actually sata and molex 4-pin connector. Duh I knew that
